18UG FSC Force Blue wins State Championship

The 18UG FSC Force Blue Wins the 2018 NCYSA Kepner Presidents State Cup Championship.

The 18UG FSC Force Blue squad entered the 2018 NCYSA Kepner Presidents State Cup as the top seed after being top of their Division 1 group during the regular season. Coming off a Fall that saw them win a 19U age group Championship at the pre-season Charlotte Dicks Sporting Goods Invitational, and losing just one match during regular season play, the seemed ready to finish the season with a championship run.

Entering the group stage as the #1 seed in the event, the girls played some of their most lack luster soccer all season. Taking 2 of 3, meant that they would have to play the #2 seed team that had rolled through their group stage in the Semi's. With the two top seeded teams having to compete in the semifinals meant that unfortunately one would com up short of their overall goal prior to the final.

A two week break between group play and the semifinals was all the girls needed to get back on track and head into the next match calm and confident. From the start, the girls came out and controlled an otherwise subdued match that saw FSC put 3 goals in the back of the net and hold their opponents scoreless for the 3rd shutout of the event for the team with a 3-0 result.

In the final, FSC was to play the only team to score, and subsequently beat, them in the tournament. With a chip on their shoulders, and a load of confidence from the Semi's, the girls again dominated the match and was able to net a goal on either side of the halftime break to win the game 2-0 and become the 2018 NCYSA Kepner Presidents State Cup Champions with their 4th shutout of the event.

They will now continue onto Austin, Texas in June of 2019 to represent North Carolina at Regionals.
