VFA PLAYERS TRAVEL TO SPAIN FOR TRIALS

Four Villarreal Force Academy Players Selected to travel to Spain for Trials...

Alberto Mallea (11UB), Justin Benson (18UB), Dayna Kenworthy (19UG) and Carlos Villarreal (19UB (2020)) will be traveling to Villarreal CF (Spain) for a week of training with our parent club's Academy Teams, working with the club's UEFA Pro Licensed Coaching Staff, Sports Psychologists and Video Analytical staff.

Over a weeks time, all four players will have the opportunity to showcase the skill sets that they have displayed to be identified by the Villarreal CF staff throughout their tenure with the Villarreal Force Academy in Fayetteville, NC as potential prospects.

Todd Abbey, Director of Soccer and Coaching @ the Villarreal Force Academy stated, "We are very proud and excited to be able to offer our players these types of opportunities. With our true, real, 1st person partnership with our Spanish partners, their staff is constantly watching training and match footage of our players trying to identify talent that they may bring over to their Academy." Abbey went on to say, "It was just a matter of time before our club started seeing the results of our efforts,. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 it has been delayed for the past year. Now that we are looking at more suitable travel guidelines, we are able to actually send our players over for their shot, and that is all we ever wanted. To give any player that plays for our organization the platform and opportunity to realize their dreams. I wish all four players the best of luck on their journeys."

> Justin Benson is currently a LW/ST for our 18UB VFA Yellow

> Dayna Kenworthy just finished her last year as a CAM for our 19UG VFA Yellow

> Carlos Villarreal finished as a CAM with the 2020 19UB VFA Yellow

The Villarreal Force Academy is a true affiliate of Villarreal CF (Spain). The mission of the VFA in conjunction with Villarreal CF is to help guide and educate players to reach the next level of their development by focusing on three main attributes; Knowledge of the Game; Autonomy; and Values. Villarreal Force is an educational soccer academy that focuses on the long-term well-being of players, rather than focusing on immediate and short-term results.
